Im ashamed to admit it, but I don't think Ive ever had a QT tank for new arrivals. Just wondering about setting this up--can I take water and material from my existing, very healthy tank to get it started? Any suggestions would be helpful as Im in the process of stocking my 30L. I know this is a very small tank but its heavily planted, and with driftwood, and Im wanting a small pleco species to bring home in the next few days. Tanks already has 7 dithers and some snails for clean-up crew.
I always drip acclimate, but wondering about QT tanks. Thanks.

Most people will keep the sponge from a sponge filter inside their main healthy tank, while keeing an empty tank in storage or whatever till needed...

This way, when they need to deal with QTing new arrivals, they can pull the sponge filter from the main tank to plug into the QT tank...

I used to keep my sponge inside my old canister or another tanks filter to keep the bio going till i need to set it up...
