I am either going to buy a new 100 gallon wide tank a used 150 gallon or a used 180 they are all about the same price, but the 180 has a lot of scratches. I am going to some kind of small stingray in there so it will have some open sand bed for it to swim about on. How much LR can I add and still have room for the ray? What are some really cool larger fish that can go with smaller fish and coral? I Have had a 24 nano for 4 years so I only realy know about the small fish lol. As the showcase fish in the tank I was going to put in one Imperator Angelfish would this be ok with the ray, coral and smaller fish. Thank you very much.

180 isn't big enough for most (if not all) rays

Its going to be a cortez stingray

180 I would say would be minimum on a ray, so you really want to get something at least about +200 gal. Even if you had your nano tank for 4 years, I would say that I would not attempt to keep a ray unless you really had an understanding of fish other than smaller species.
Not to say you aren't capable of keeping one, but think about what you are asking.
Ever heard the saying... "If you have to ask the price, it means that you can't afford it" the same goes for many things.
But it's your money. Spend it any way you want.
Species like sharks and rays are more sensitive than your typical fish. So just keep that in mind.

I boought a new 180 gallon tank today.

pics of the tank would be sweet lol.

for what its worth id avoid a ray because Gallons is not as important as base specs. A 4' by 4' would be a decent ray tank, but 8' by 4' would be better. See what i mean??

Picking the tank next weak sometime then will post picks
