My friend and i are having an argument in regards to sexing a green terror. Someone told him or he read somewhere on the internet that orange fins means male and white fins means female. I spending entirely too much time on hear have come to believe that this is because they are two different types of saums. Can any of you clear this up for us pls.

your going to have to wait until the middle of the night, its easiest this way because the color drops down while they sleep so just set your alarm, go in the fish room at about 3 in the morning, be ready maybe with a camera or something to record it in case you cant see it with tired eyes that late. Flip the light on, if its a boy it will have boxers on and a girl will or should have panties. Seriously though Im not sure, couldnt help it, and hope to see what real replies you get soon to settle your fight. Hope you win, cheers.

Orange or white fin tips has nothing to do with sex. Gold saums (orange) are just more common than their counterpart, silver saums (white), but both can be either male or female. Generally the males grow larger than the females but the only surefire way to sex them, as with many new worlds, is venting. I've seen plenty of female GTs that look and act like males but end up laying eggs when their owner least expects it

You are pretty much right cause
Gold Saum - orange
White Saum - white

+1

i had 5 gt's to grow out to make sure i got a decent male and when i first got them the one that was the biggest and had the most orange on the fins turned out to be female, so i don't think you can tell until they are older.
