Is there any basics that I am forgetting? It's been so long since I itemized and put together a tank i feel like I am missing something.

67DTr.png I'm looking at around 350$ for the basics here, does this seem like a good deal, with free 2 day shipping.

The only basic thing I can think of that you are missing would be food. Obviously if you don't know what your stock will be then maybe not the right time to purchase.

One other thing I will mention is tank cycling. I personally have used SeaChems Stability to help cycle my tanks when setting them up. I have never lost a fish when using this stuff, and I only use it when setting up the tank - not monthly during water changes or when introducing new fish or anything.

Driftwood or anything like that? Prime, seachem. Python for water changes, if you want changes to go easy. I think you have the basics though. Blasting sand from tractor supply is $7.99 for 50 pounds and looks really nice if you were thinking of different substrates.

How abot uv? My tanks are in the basement but are alway much clearer with uv.

I have a lot of driftwood, being in Pensacola. Can go to the pass, and gather all sorts of wood off the beach that has been bleached out. Prime I've got in the list there. I also have a Python already ordered, but definitely a good reminder (had to check on it's tracking! lol) I used to use some kind of instant cycle stuff for my fish, but I forget what it's called now. Had to pay a pretty penny for it + the same day shipping. Dont think I'll go that route this time for cycling though

People use UV for freshwater now? I thought that was a SW thing?

if you have canister filtration i suggest using in-line heaters instead.. best part is that you're using 2 filter so get 2 in-lines and you won't have to look into tank with 2 heater in sight..

How is this done?

you need to add 2 of these inline heaters into your cart instead of the jagers... "Hydor ETH 300 In-Line Heater - 5/8" - 300 W" your filters setup uses 5/8" hose for inlet and outlet so what you do with the heater set at the outlet side of the filter.. only thing you have to watch for is.. you have to set the inline heater vertical or as much as possible so works well.. i have it setup with about 15 degree angle upward it doesn't work well in that angle.. if you want to try it out i suggest buy one jager and have 1 inline for one of the filter's outlet..

You don't need 2 300w heaters, try one inline and see how it does. (or 2 150's) 2 small is better than 1 large in the event of a failure.

Ok thanks for info on the heater and UV deal. As far as substrate, changed my mind and will be going with PFS. How many lbs do I need for a 125g tank? 2-3" a good depth or too much?
