Here is what I have set up for housing A Green Texas, oscar, and I can't decide between a Green terror or Jack Dempsey. Does the set-up look alright? Tank is 75 Gal and purchase size of the cichlids is going to be 1.5-2 inches. My dad insists on Getting Both green terror and Dempsey because He says they don't get big and We are adding a canister filter in addition to the underground and he said the tank could handle it, But to me that seems a bit heavy stocked. But over-all tell me if the setup seems alright for these little guys! Im going to be buying some low-shrub plants for the middle:naughty::naughty:

Here it is. I also forgot to add I absolutely dislike Oscars in the setup but my little brother is heartbroken if we don't pick up one

Its good that you posted here before going through with your plan. Pick one of those fish to keep in that tank and learn to love it because its to small for multiple fish.

That's what I originally planned but my dad thinks that is OK and he doesn't listen to anyone so for all I know we will have more than one

Do the jack Dempsey and green terror if your dad is set on two fish. If he is set on a third then add a convict.

Those three fish don't grow the fastest and in a year the tank won't be grossly over stocked like with an Oscar and carpintis.

I would make your dad take a look at the fresh water health issues and disease section, there are other cichlids you can keep in that tank if your looking to do more than one but as others have said that tank is inly big enough for 1 of the fish you listed, might get by with the dempsey and gt for a long time but def not all.

If you decide to house those type of fish in that tank, (as with others, I agree not to) I wouldn't use an under gravel filter. With stock like that it would get clogged pretty quick and lead to health issues like Jaws implied. I would run a quality HOB like an Aquaclear and the canister as supplemental filtration.
