Ok well I'm moving in two weeks... at first I didn't think I was going to be able to take ANY of my tanks or fish and that was really disappointing. I thought that because I'm moving into an apartment that is smaller than my house now, and I'll be on the 2nd floor. I have a 210 gallon tank and a 125 gallon tank. Clearly, a 210 is too heavy and too risky to put on a 2nd floor. I was going to sell the 125 regardless, I don't really want it setup in my apt. Well, I'm gonna have a separate garage at the complex that is 14ft x 20ft. Plus, it has electrical outlets. It's big enough for my truck and the 210g, but will it be too hot in this summer heat for my fish (I'm in Georgia by the way and it gets HOT). If this is not an issue, then I'm going to keep the 210 and have it setup in my garage. Any and all feedback is very much needed!

it's harder to cool water rather than heat it, just remember that. Also you will have to go through the other extremes of cold weather. I am from GA too and i know in the winter it gets pretty darn chilly! some good insulation and a bangin a/c ought to be a good start.

I have plenty of heaters, I'm not worried about the winter, just the summer. The garage isn't climate controlled. But, there aren't any windows and it's a brick building so I would think it would be decently insulated. I'm on the fence on this one but I gotta get it figured out soon

Thanks a lot. Anyone else have success or complete failure running a setup in a garage?

Why not run a chiller in the summer if the garage gets too hot? or put an ac unit on a timer build a stand for it with a drain pan under it and fasten a drain hose to the pan that goes outside somehow

the homemade AC unit sounds pretty ghetto... I thought about a chiller, but they are pretty expensive right? I'd like to do without the expense if I can... but I haven't ruled it out

You could always get a stand alone AC Unit. I purchased one for $600 for our server room at work (12x18 that ran over 98 degrees with just a small window unit) and with the new one, I keep it at 72. They range anywhere from $75 and up.

yeah garage would def get too hot without any kind of ac or chiller of some type, i think your fish would fry in the summer heat
