I have no idea why the fish gods love me so much.
I inherited a Jade Goby, found out they eat hair algae, and in the next three days I had an outbreak of hair algae in my main tank that I was able to harvest and throw his way. I had never had heir algae in that tank since week three of setting it up, and nothing had come into contact with is that I knew of which could have introduced spores. They must have just floated in or been activated by water conditions.
I inherited a paralyzed betta and already was randomly in possession of every little device needed to make his 5g tank handicap access.
I went to a puddle to collect daphnia and got not only buttloads of them, but also blue gammarus sp. female loaded with eggs in just three drags of the net!
There's plenty more I could ramble on about, but I want to hear your tales of luck with setups and filtration, collection, etc.
