Several Bullheads caught tonight

I went fishing for (bait) bullheads tonight. I caught about 30 in 40 minutes just using a hook and worm. As soon as the worm hits the water, they bite. I put some in the above ground pool in my basement with my sunfish, etc and other bait and I will put some outside in my pond.

I am going to use a few of these in about 6 hours to catch some big channel cats and flatheads.

Cool! How to you hook them for bait, just through the back below the dorsal fin? I've been meaning to try them for flatties on the allegheny but it's hard for me to use a bullhead as bait and then come home and look my bullhead in the eyes as I handfeed him, lol.

There are a few ways to hook them. Sometimes I go through the bottom lip, sometimes right below the dorsal or close to the tail. You're in PA?

Fishing evenings on bullhead infested ponds/lakes is the craziest thing.

No flatheads were biting. I just got channel cats between 18 and 28 inches and white perch so I put them in the pool. One guy got a really nice looking blue cat. I wanted it but he slammed it on the ground to stun it and then filleted it right after he caught it.

I'm going back out tomorrow and some other days this week so I'm sure I'll get some.

A little pond that no one really knows there are thousands of bullheads in. You can literally catch 10 in about 5 minutes.

Well, I got my flathead and channels!! The flathead is pretty big, so I kept him alive and he's in the basement now! They were all in a big bucket and a lot of them were still breathing 3 hours later. I put him in a big cooler with some water in it and he shot back to life. Crazy.

The rest will be filleted!
