Where the gators are
So my LFS had some Hybrids. I previously picked up to 2 large ones they had. They had 2 die some how and 2 other tiny guys that were doin alright but werent eating. 2 days ago i noticed that the were getting really skinny and i told the manager id take them for what they cost to try and save them. Shot me down. Yesterday i went in and they told me both died. Today when i went in i noticed that one was still in the tank (they forgot to get rid of him) He was still BREATHING. He bagged him up and gave him to me. (You can see the outline of all his bones)

Hes floatin in a isolation container i have in one of my tanks. I put brine shrimp in there but doesnt have enough energy to get it. So i took him out and opened his mouth then push a bit of brine shrimp to his stomach. Hes showing more movement now so im gonna keep tryng this to see what happens.

Has anyone every force fed fish to get them back to health before?
Ive done this with reptiles before and it has worked. But is this a wasted effort with the fish? Ill keep trying though because its not like it can hurt.

I never would have thought of force feeding the fish. I have no idea if it will even work. Based on your discription, I would think that the fish is too far gone.

Does this LFS not know how to take care of its live stock? I don't think I would go in there any more.

Yeah im worried he might be but its at least worth a try.

Actually their pretty knowledgeable but they ask me what to do with some fish. There just not allowed to do special diets for there fish. And if they do the manager has to pay for the food with his own money. Im actually gonna start workin there next week lol.

Thanks for the feed back though

Maybe you'll be able to prevent this from happening again once you start working there.

Good luck reviving your guy. I hope it pulls through.

Alright well thats good that others have tried this so at least theres a chance.

So far it seems to have done a bit. But he gagged some up and it got stuck in his gills. Thank god ive been keepin a close eye on him. He had stopped breathing so i took a squirt bottle and put it in front of his mouth and squeezed water into it. Got it all out of his mouth now hes breathing again. Im not gonna give up yet.

Oh sorry my bad everyone. He lasted about 3 days. I the manager would have givin him to me 2 days before heck the day before he might of mad it. These guys are tough but only so much and this was to much for him. I was suprised how long he fought.
