So I looked around online and saw that distichodus were decent tankmates for datnoids on multiple forums. Overnight my distichodus absolutely destroyed my datnoid.

I have him in a quarantine my small bichir is in, parameters are good. I'll be getting antifungal medication tomorrow after work. I also added some stress coat because I had a bottle laying around.

He's swimming around cautiously, but aside from the wounds, doesn't seem deathly ill.

Any tips or recommendations are welcome. Thanks!

Infection and osmoregulation will be problems. The latter can be helped with salt but you need antibiotics for infection.

Keep the water clean and make sure it’s eating. Should recover as it looks superficial in the photos. What you’ve added is fine and keep an eye out for infection. Can add salt 1tsp per gallon.
