i might need to relocate my 8.5-9" male Heros efasciatus soon. I don't wanna sell him to a LFS (i've had him for 5 or so years) so i might move it to my cousins 55 gallon. He has a 4.5" male convict and a 3" female. They used to breed but now they don't. If i remove the convicts, change the aquascape, add the severum, wait a few hours than add the convicts back, do you think they have a chance of cohabitating?

I know convicts are pretty aggressive, but my severum is pretty territorial as well.

any insight?

I don't think it's a good idea... Severum is a territorial cichlid but Convicts are agressive ! Furthermore, they are infernal when they spawn... An H efasciatus can reach about 20 cm so a bigger tank would be better for him.

I had a convict and a severum in a 45 when I was young they did fine for years(I was inexperienced then) the severum was a bit stunted but lived to 7" and the con was 5" both just died like three weeks ago.

They haven't laid eggs In probably close to 4 years. My cousin used to have a green terror with them and he was fine while they were breeding and his green terror was really timid. This was in a 20 gallon.

So i guess the consensus is that it won't work. Poop.
