I have a gold severum that's around 2.5" with 3.5" tiger oscar in a 75 gallon tank. Tiger oscars are known to be voracious eaters, and mine is not an exception. I usually have to feed it a large amount of pellets or a large shrimp to stuff it in order to get to feed the severum. But the severum won't eat any floating pellets not even mini bio gold, he'll just inhale them and spit it out. He nibbles at flakes and baby shrimp, but the only thing that'll he actually eat excessively are bloodworms. So i've been feeding him bloodworms nearly nonstop for 2 weeks and I"m pretty sure he's addicted to them. But today I decided to drop in some sining carniverous pellets and for some reason he ate them and didn't spit them out. Any suggestions on what else he'll eat? Also I don't know if it's just mine but severums seem to have really tiny mouths.

If you let him get hungry enough, he'll eat about anything. Try to get him on a staple such as biogold, there are even several kinds of veggie pellets out there that would be great as severums should have greens in their diet. If he won't eat it right away, don't give in and give him his icecream. After a couple of day he will adjust. Feed the staple daily and give him his treats (bloodworms, lettuce, peas) a couple times a week.
Yea, they do have pretty small mouths. Especially compared to an oscar. An oscar has a large mouth because it eats fish and large inverts, a severums is smaller because of a more veggiterian diet.
