I know that severums, geophagus, jade gobies and silver dollars will eat aquarium plants. Does this extend to the moss balls sold at Petsmart as well or would they be safe with these fish?

Here's a better question: Are there any plants that can go with my fish? Here is my stocklist:

1x Clown knife
1x Severum
3x Silver Dollars
1x Datnoid
1x Ornate Bichir
1x Leopard Ctenopoma
1x Geophagus (just bought one)
1x Fat Sleeper Goby
1x Blood Red Parrot
7x Clown Loaches

Thinking of adding a fire eel OR tire track eel. Also looking at adding a scat.

Will the moss balls sold at Petsmart work with these fish or any plant for that matter?

Your severum will probably use them as toys. I would not expect them to last too long or look very good but you never know unless you try. If you end up going for it, let us know how it works out. GL :)

(I would not introduce anything from petsmart into my tanks without about a 32 year QT for the record) scary

I know that Jade Gobies eat hair algae by the bucketfull in the wild, so I wouldn't trust a marimo ball to his care.

Silver dollars should eat just about any plant you can put in there. Try elodea first.

I have Amazon swords with my silver dollars, severum, and geos and never had an issue.

What size tank?

Tank size factors into determining what will last as well, sometimes. I had swords in a 75 with my istlanum and they destroyed them. When I moved the istlanum to my 265 with swords, they never messed with them.

Hope its a big tank with that stocklist...especially if youre adding an eel or scat.

I have a 300 gallon tank, but decided to not get the scat. From what the guy at the LFS told me, he said that a scat can live in a freshwater tank for life, but it would be prone to sickness and I would always be medicating the tank. I will get the fire eel and maybe a flagtail and leave my stock at that.

Nice. That will be an interesting tank.

Same goes for the goby as for the scat...brackish is better and they are usually prone to sickness if kept in freshwater, especially with larger more aggressive tankmates.

Why did you have to tell me that about the fat-sleeper goby? lol. Its supposed to be a freshwater goby. I already bought it and have had it for months. I haven't had any problems with it though. I love my goby.
