Severum ID and feeding

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody could ID my new sev. He has 6 bars, 5 of which only go halfway up his body. That's the only thing pics dont show.

Also, what veggies can sevs eat?

He loves lettuce but is too lazy to bite it or rip it up, so I have to rip it up and hand feed him. Splashes real bad when he's hungry so I want something he might be able to graze on.

All severums have 9 bars with the exception of Heros sp. 'rotkeil' and Heros sp. 'Iniridae', both of which have 8 bars.

I always feed mine Romaine lettuce. If he's hungry enough he'll tear holes in the leaves and eat it. I just close the stem in the lid of the tank with the green leafy bit sticking down into the water. Once they strip all the green off I just remove the white rib/stalk that's left.

You can try blanched peas or zucchini but mine never cared for that much. They do love algae wafers for plecos.

I thought that much. But is it a Turqoise or a green or a rotkeil or what?

It's hard to say without knowing its origin. Most tank-bred LFS severums are a crazy mix of several different types. Unless it came from a source who knew the lineage back to wild fish, I'd just call it H. efasciatus or a green in general.
