looks like a female H. efasciatus. try to get a better pic of the face. it looks good, i likeefasciatus that get those nice red spots

the 2nd and 4th pics are the best i can get now it is shy and constintly moving...

since it is a female if i could find a male what would the chances of breeding them, and how long could it stay in a 20gal?

i wouldn't consider keeping them in a 20g at all. i had a pair that i got a 2-3" within 3 months they were 4-5" and breeding. consider getting a 40g breeder minimum.

as for breeding they breed pretty easily at about 82F with slightly acidic waters.

yeah you just have to look at the face boys will have worming marks on their face while girl's will look like loveseverum's and have no markings on their face kinda hard to tell from your pics and yes they def need bigger tank sevs are a large cichlid and should be housed accordingly i wouldnt even keep 1 sev in a 20g

i would say for breeding them a 55 gallon.

congrats on getting a sev-theyre great fish, i have quite a few. but, keep in mind they do get quite large.

it is in a 20gal temp.;) cause it was getting harased in my 55gal, i still got 1 a-hole fish in there after it is delt with then it will go in there or i get the 75gal i have been looking at, witch ever comes first...as it is still small enough for the 20gal...i gess i should have mentioned that it was a temp home, my bad...i have a 6'x2'x2', a 55gal, and a 20gal now and am building a 10'x10'x3' after i move witch is soon and then i may use the 6' tank for a discus/ severum tank but idk...before it gets suggested the 6' is a death sentance for it now as my aro, gar, and tsns could eat it and still be hungry lol
