i think you will have to wait until they are a little bigger and color up to be sure but maybe someone with a better trained severum eye can pic out clues im not seeing GOOD LUCK

Evening.

Their Heros efasciatus, and unless you know their heritage / catch location, they fall into the lovely catogory of "The green severum"

The colouring is simply down to stress im afraid.

Even sevs from the blackest of waters dont lose pigmentation (like the Panda Uaru did) The nearest they get are H.severus, which goes a lovely pale white when its relaxed, and im afraid the anal fin (first 3 spines are clearly fused, indicating a menmber of the Notatus Complex) and head shape are all wrong for that.)

At a guess i'd say they where from the belem line (i see a little "Y"ing on the stress bars, and no really strong body markings, as seen on the Manause Line (these are the two base sevs that made the hobby, and have been interbred countless times down the line)

Nice looking fish and hopefully they settle down and colour up properly, but im afraid, their nothing rare ;)

Thank you Craig .. they dont act stressed at all. I appreciate your replying to both posts with great information. I hope once they put on some size theyll make good company to the larger male.

More then welcome Dan.

Always nice to share a bit of info on Sevs.

It'll be easier to see what they turn into when they put on a bit of size by the way. just keep em nice and fat and they'll treat you well.

All the best
Craig

That's a very interesting color pattern. I would also guess that they are just stressed or getting adjusted. If they keep that color by the time they are 3-4" then please repost pictures. I have never had a juvy severum look like that so I am interested to see how they turn out. They will almost certainly turn back green though. Unless you have something none of the rest of use have ever seen before.
