A while back I was looking at some of my old pics and I found one that was time stamped Jan 2001. Its of my Green Severum. Looked to be almost half grown in the photo. He is still alive and showing his age. Hes probably 11 1/2 years old or so now. Just wondering what the lifespan of them are.

Pretty much any cichlid (at least the medium to larger varieties) can hit about 15 years of age. After that I'm pretty sure they're more or less out-living their biological clock. Although, I have a 10-11 year old Texas Cichlid (not sure how old she was when I got her but I've had her for over 10 years) and she still tears after feeders like a cichlid half her age.

Yes it is. He is a F3, I have 3 or 4 of them. Bought (6) of them about 7 years ago. I have a couple Lab yellows in there also. I was very reluctant to put the Salousi with the severum but they get along great. The Lab. Yellow's has been in there for about 7 years also. I have a spotted Rafael that stays in the top of the tower that you can see in the picture. He is as old as the severum (I think) I see him about twice a year. Ocassionally I make him come out to see if he is alive.
