I have a turquoise severum, and I think he is going to mate with my green severum. The bottom of the turquoise turned whiteish, and he is fighting off everything from the drift wood he likes. What do you think?

A photo would really help.

In general breeding colors are the best color your fish will ever show.

Oops I did not mean to post the 2 times.

Are the breeding tubes down? Then you know you will have eggs soon.

Morning Lads.

Generally, when females are ready to spawn, their stomaches turn a creamy white and they lose alot of their colour and turn very dark (most likely due to the stress of defending a territory)

watch for Lip locking, tail slapping, and shivering (she should be the first to start)

As for their colours being the best they'll show ;-) Its true for pretty much everything except severums lol. Most of them look very dark, and that little white patch is the best your going to get ;-)

Also, Turqoise severum - Green Severum - Gold severum - Red severum = all the same fish (as long as were not talking wild caughts, then theres plenty of debate) so interbreeding isn't really an issue. (Sort of like breeding mongrel dogs - No offence ment, but commercially bred severums are exactly that. A fish thats been bred from numerous species/sub speices over many generations)

All the best
