To me it looks male based on the markings on the face. My female face is different
It’s a male. Female rotkeil have a solid blue face with no striated or spotted pattern. Heros are one of the easiest South American cichlids to sex because every species except two show distinct sexual dimorphism at maturity.
+1. Female rotkeil have nice color, but the markings on the face are a dead giveaway.
