whats a good tankmates for a 2 severum in a 10 gal.???

Waveman, please tell me you're not keeping severum in a 10g tank? I've seen severum grow 9+" with my own eyes. It's a nice big, tall and thick fish with lots of personality. Keeping them in a 10 gallon will stunt them and they'll live an unusually short life. A pair needs a 55 gallon minimum in my opinion. Here's mine at 7". See what I mean?

Bluntly... Nothing!
And IMHO the Sev should grow out in atleast a 20gal till aprox 4-5"(SL), then transferred to minimum 30gal (36Lx18W), prefer 50>gal, for one Sev and perhaps a few dithers.

i would go with some kribs. they come from africa, but they look like they are south american. and you could breed them and sell the babies back to your lfs. good luck.

P.S. Please don't get severums

i agree with ballton.....i personally have had a 10"+ male golden severum and he got pissed at me when he was in a 40x18x18 (was his own fault for being a bully :D) but he was much happier in my 120g...IMO a pair of severums should have atleast a 90g to them selves...if you want tank mates 100g+ thanks

10g is best suited to things like guppies (livebearers) and tetras ;)

:iagree:
Imho, a 10 gallon just isn't a cichlid tank, even for the little guys. Maybe a hospital/quarantine tank.

10gal for a, 'A', SA/CA cichlid, as in one adult male display fish, perhaps with 3-6 small tetras for dithers...
There are a couple of choices possible, but just because something is possible doesn't mean we should do it.

Almost all of the Dwarfs/Apistogrammas are very sensitive to water quality.
A 10 gal is very minimal, and minimal means less room for error and increased maintenance intervals. Water volume is your friend, as is moderate stocking levels with heavy filtration.
Most of the Dwarf/Apisto prefer a small harem/breeding group, one male and 3+ females, with room for each female to have a small territory.
I strongly suggest you acquire a 20-30gal for even Dwarf/Apisto, then you can do a nice little slice of SA/CA with the best interest of the fish addressed.

That said, your gonna do what your gonna do, so I'll attemp to continue to point you in the right direction...

You could technically keep any of these as a solitary male with the formentioned school of dithers in a 10gal...

But I wouldn't recommend it.
........................................................................................................

You cannot raise and keep a Sev in a 10gal.
To do so would be cruel, inhumane and negligent.
