What are some tankmates for a breeding Severum? He's really shy and doesn't like to eat when ppl r around, so I can't find tankmates for him that don spook him by swimming fast

Geophagus species, festivums, rainbow, blue acara and firemouth cichlids are rather calm species that are considered as good tank mates for severums. You say it is a breeding severm, what do you mean by this as it is usually best to keep a breeding pair together and not with any other fish as they become rather aggressive. If you only have one severum then try getting him some more severum tank mates and hopefully he will pair up.

I'm not quite sure why you keep asking stupid questions?

You were told ages ago in a thread of your own that a 40 was too small for a pair of severums. Now your asking what you can add? - short answer, nothing. Secondly, you have a lone male (apparantly a female is on the way). But just because you have a male and female doesn't mean you have a pair. So instead of worrying what to add and what not to.

Focus on getting your female, upgrading your tank and conditioning the female, ready for breeding.

Why do you have to be a jerk? All i was doing was trying to get some tips for some tank mates, you could tell me nicely that i can't add tank mates

I don't think hes being a jerk. If you were already told that your tank is too small for the breeding pair of sevs then why would you ask about putting more fish in? Did you think you would get any other answer than you did? I don't know anything about sevs but I have seen adults in person and there is no way a breeding pair would be happy in a 40 gallon tank.

Your telling us you have a breeding male severum, and asking for tips on how to breed your male severum. When you dont even have a female? The only reason i was so blunt is because your asking ridiculous questions? The fact that a thread of yours previously stated a 40 was too small for a pair alone serves as an answer to your question.

I am sorry if you think i am a 'jerk' but all i was doing was telling you straight.

Yeah, I also see that thread you made that is called "Breeding Male Severum".

You said it was in a 40g with 6 tiger barbs and a cuckoo catfish? My answer is no female, no tank mates. Why would you try to breed a species of cichlid that can grow 10'' or more in a 40g? Small tank don't ya 'think'?

You have a good point, I won't breed him.
