I just joined MFK today, been on this site several times though... there is probably already a tread on this, but

What different types of Severum are there?

I own of:

Heros severus - Mouth brooding Severum (Atabapo)
Heros notatus – Spotted Brazilian Severum
Heros appendiculatus – Peruvian Green Severum
Heros efasciatus – Green Severum
Heros efasciatus – Yellow Severum
Heros sp. Super Red Severum
Heros sp. “Raspberry Face Severum”
Heros sp. “rotkeil” (just ordered)

I know there are a few other "Sp's" of the same fish from different areas too, thing is I have seen SOOO many different Severum recently I just can't find any sufficient information about them.. The internet is NO BUENO for research
I have heard of, but never actually seen in person (Some may be the same fish by a different name)
Heros severus - Mouth brooding Severum (Iniridae)
Heros spurious
Heros sp. “Puala Coaro”-Rio Negro
Heros sp. “Cameta” or “Marajo”
Heros sp. “Uatuman”
Heros sp. “Red Peru”
Heros sp. “French Guyana” Severum
Heros sp. “Turquoise” Severum
Heros sp. “Ucayali” Severum

Thanks, any and ALL info is accepted and appreciated

I don't want to pass myself of as an expert. But I think that the proliferation of names is the more recent interest in the origin of the fish. I did once look into the Iniridae mouth brooding atabapo and found they were regular mouth brooders buy wild caught from the Inirida River in Columbia, South America. At least some of the names you have in the second list appear to be specifying the subpopulation by location.
