my green and gold dug out a spot under a new piece of drift wood in the tank. the females tube is down and they have kinda taken over that side of the tank. what colors would the babies be or are they like convicts where two blacks can make pinks ect.?

ah well we will see i have eggs now

Good luck, my golds breed about once a month and have only gotten free swimming fry once in over a year.
They should all come out green I would think as green is the dominant color gene, but if you were to cross the offspring back to a gold you should be able to get a mix of colors (both green and gold offspring) as they would have the receive gold gene.

im not super worried as to color was just wondering. i doubt very many of the fry will make it my tank has its share of fish that would be happy to pick the fry off along with two fx5's. i have a small planted ten the fry will go in if i can get any out of the 180

I know your not worried but you will get some "dirty" looking golds. Do not put them in a planted tank. They need there own ten for about two months then put them in a 30 gallon. Water changes need to be every other day at the least with lots of food. Since mine are in a 150 with lots of other fish I take the eggs out and hatch them myself, not the best idea but I get 30-40 fry at a time.

they will be fine in the ten i dont plan on keeping any as i am overstocked didnt even plan on them breeding added new driftwood and did a waterchange, they never even showed any interest till yesterday

Just curious, but if your not planning on raising them then why move them? Have I missed something? Shouldn't nature just take it's course?

some will stay in the tank as feeders-red tiger mota misc. veija and catfish any that manage to get to the swimming stage will go to the lfs
