i just got the 120 setup and all that is in there right now is an oscar and senegal bichir....and i was thinking of adding either some severums or convicts anybody got any recommendations....also anybody breed severums

never kept severums but can defo recommend cons, have had 3 now, 2 males and a female. female did not get on to well in my tank as it is quite aggressive but the males have been great, not afraid of anything and always on the move. mine like to dig but dont seem to destroy plants at all, i have a polypterus senegalus as well and they have no problems

don't do convicts. They're too common and if you get more than 1 you're going to end up with a pair who will terrorize your tank. Then you'll have to deal with all kinds of fry that nobody will take. Do severums and after a year or so when you have a breeding pair you can sell their fry.

ill try ill have to find them first....i havent seen any severums where i live but ill take a trip to a lfs ive nvr been to and see if i cant find any

severums because, like the others have pointed out, they come a huge variety of variations. a larger variety than convicts. but why not have a couple of cons and some sevs that way you get the best of both worlds. or honduran red points instead of cons as they are a more colourful alternative.
