Severum's Spawned

My Severums just spawned. This isnt the first time, but this time I am hoping to grow out some of the fry. I set up a 10 gallon tank and am need help on the rest. I am thinking of puting the the rock that they layed the eggs on into the 10 gallon. In the past the fry have lasted no more than 3 or 4 days befor they get eaten by the JacK Dempsey in the tank, this time I want to prevent that. I would like to know how to do this. Does the water in the 10 have to be the exact as the the water they were layed in?

Are you sure it's the Jack? Severum are notorious for eating their fry. (at least mine were) I would wait until they hatch if you can make it that far and then siphon them out with your Python into the 10g. Try to have the exact same temp as the other tank. Heck, transfer water beforehand from the larger tank to the 10g. When their yolksak depletes, you'll really have to stay on top of feeding them and keep the water clean. Also put a sponge over your filter intake so the fry don't get sucked in.

what size are they in now? maybe you can do a divider til they wiggle. Then do like Balton said and siphon them out.

It can be difficult to personally parent your fry. You should save at least 1/2 for the Severum parents. If you're patient, they'll usually learn how to be parents eventually. Mine took at least 5 batches before they raised them up. It can be frustrating but hang in there.

Mine just ate their second batch of eggs, I'm just letting them go for it. Once they are able to raise fry to the point when they have no eggs sack I remove some then, but until then I try to ignore the fact that they are spawning at all.

I would do as stated above use water from your spawn tank, I have found this to lower the fatality rate a lot. Also add a muture filter and keep the tank clean and the fry well fed.
