hello is this site about help i know people keep severums come on now mine seem to be growing really fast so someone please help out i have 3 green sevs a gold sev and 2 bp's so someone please help with the growth rate!!! i have googled cannot find it i feed them hikari small pellets wardley cichlid flakes crushed wardley pellets which i mixed with hikari gold pellets and water crushed them and froze them into one of my old beef heart cubes blood worms and brine shrimp this is also the diet that my flowerhorns have and they grow great as well some one help!!!
No idea on how fast they grow man. Never keep them, but if they grow like typical CA/SA cichlids, then expect 1 inch per month while really young then they slow in growth at about 6-8 inches and Sev's can reach up to 12 inches. Hope that helps.
We have Turquoise x Wild Red Severum babies at the moment that are between 0.5" and 1.5", and they are only about 2 months old. They were relatively small fry, so they grow pretty quickly...
my Golds / Greens grew from 1.5" to 5" within a year. They slow down once they hit the 5"-6" mark......live food speeds up the process....earthworms once they are large enough I found was the best food for growth and color. Wally mart sells the small pan fish size to get you started.....my observations mine also love spinach leaves to nibble on....
i got my gold sev at 1.5inch ....1 year and 2month ago and now he is 6.5inch ....... got my blood parrot 1 year ago he was 4inch hes now almost 7inch .......
i feed them little and often 3times a day with live food on sundays after i been to the fish shop on saturday....
i'd say in the last 2month they havn't really grown since they are both over 6inch its gone quite slow! grrrrrrrrr
also yours will grow faster if you put them in a bigger tank.......hmmmm mine had a growth spurt after being put in a 90gallon with just...1 blood parrot ....1 gold sev and a blue acara.
