My 40 gallon (called a breeder size, I guess for good reason), has absolutley gone insane. Let me give you an inhabitant break down. 1- what I figured was a male Green Terror-Gold Saum (guess I'm very good at sexing GT's at any age, can generlly tell by the slope of their head), he's now about 3.5"s. At the same time I bought another little bit smaller GT-Gold Saum, who I figured was a female, (which turns out to be correct), she is 3" now. I then bought 3 small Silver Saums, to hope for a breeding pair, they are all about 2.5"s at present. There are also 2-3" Clown Loaches...
Now on with the story, I saw the 3" female start to clean a surface and protect, I couldn't friggin believe it, this thing is just a child, far too young to be dating, but she is now protectiing eggs even from the larger male. On the other side of the tank one of the small Silver Saums I notice is protecting an area (even from the loaches, which no-one has been concerened with up until now) sure enough she has eggs on a little flat rock and is protecting with all her little might. I thought that SA/CA cichlids were, monagomous, guess I couldn't be more wrong.....It's just flat insane in this tank, I'll be pulling 2 of the small Silver Saums, but what else should I do?
