Male. Females have a reddish belly, and more rounded ventral fins.

I'm no expert, but I'm gonna say female. The first 2 spines on the male is generally much taller than on a female. Plus, males don't have blue spangling on their sides. Photo is of a male.

I'm going to say it's a male. It's missing the reddish-pink belly of the female and it's not as short and stocky as a female; males are usually longer-bodied.
