Really hard to tell in those pics, but I would say female. Great fish to keep, i have 5 of them.

Yes, those pics look like she is distressed and mainly by the fins. Males seem to have long flowing fins and can develop a more rounded head. Yours is a little young and that is why I was saying it might not be definite. Here is one of my males as a comparison:

Young males do not have exaggerated fins or thick foreheads until they're older and more mature. At this point your fish is too young to accurately sex. There are no color differences between males and females.

Way to young to tell the difference. I've had mine for 9 months and it looks like paulbearer's chocolate.
