:) I knew it would spark a debate, but I was not taking a guess. Easy to tell with your fish for me.

Same as last thread...Male....

Just because they are cheap, and common, does not make them any less of a fish, than any other fish. This is a common debate, and open forum. I understand that to some it is easy to treat the beginner stuff like it is less important, but the beginners are the future of the hobby. There is at least one person who will see this thread, and be thankful that it was made/discussed.

I have many different types of fish, some common, some not so common. JD's have alway's been my favorite. I would get rid of all my fish and tanks with the exception of my JD tank...it's hard to beat the shear beauty of a fully mature male Jack Dempsey...IMO

The one in the OP has more blue in its lower jaw than a typical male, and less than a typical female. We all know how to get a definitive answer - what's the point of a debate? Just net it out and take a look, and you'll know in 10 seconds. http://www.fishhead.com/articles/ventsex.htm

I posted a "sex-my-JD" thread myself before and it got closed. No reason given. I'm not the one that thinks JDs are not worthy.
