I am hoping my jack dempsey is a male, but she is looking like a female to me. She is 2.5 inches. What do you think male or female?

I'd say fins and colour on body suggest female, but facially the lack of spots underneath suggest male. I'd let it grow another inch then you'll be in a much stronger position to tell, quite a few people on the forums swore mine was a male; only for it to turn out female.

Yeah. I really wanted a male but I have a feeling I got a female. If so imma have to find a male. Hopefully I won't end up with two females.

However I don't see the blotchy blue on the gill plate so maybe it's a male. I only see blue spots on the gill plate. My last females gill plate looked like it was bleeding blue.

Time will tell, I'll try and find a pic of my female at around 2 inches in size, who also didn't have the blue beard, but developed it later.
