i wonder why the blue that was at first on the gill plate is faded now, but theres more color in the fins.

so easy for u ppl!! so if a look for a male same size should have less blue on the face? longer fins or smth like that? i have read somewhere that only females have the red on top fin but i think is probably false, what are things im looking for in a male?

Males have less blue on the gill plates. That is the best way to tell. Nice looking JD too.

Often times there will be no blue beard at all.

Males have less blue or no blue on the face and muck stronger coloration on the sides of the fish.
