Was just wondering what sex my jd is? He's about 3-4" right now in a 120 with red texas, jaguar, datnoid, 3 tinfoil barbs and 3 diamond scale barbs for dithers. He's the king of the tank and showing nice colors since I got him from petsmart. I've had him since he was a small fry. I have another jd in my 240 that has more blue on him than this one but in the body. Thanks

I'm no expert, but from previous threads I remember reading that if the chin area has more speckles (dots and designs) than it is usually a male, however if the chin area is more of a solid color (blue/green whatever) and is not spangled than it is likely a female. But by all means, don't hold me to this. Only way to know for sure is to vent the fish.

A "blue beard" is a female, and a plain chin is a male.
