A none angled, strictly side view pic would have probably helped with responses.
Most female Central Ameican cichlids have a dark area in the dorsal, but if alone that mark can be obscured, and sometimes doesn't become apparent until maturity sets in.
Profile shape of the head is also a helpful indicator.
Both these traits are not obvious to me in the photo, and I imagine most people would be hesitant to make a judgement without seeing them, unless sure.
I can't tell by the pic, and I've had mated pairs, and snorkeled with uropthalmus in Mexico.

but can be less apparent, take the female cutteri below, here to me, her profile might be a better indicator
