Sex my Rotkeil Severum

I have a little rotkeil growing out with my notatus and I want an all male tank so I'm wondering if this is male or female ?

I can't really zoom in that well on my phone, but based on the lack of facial markings I'd guess female. I've always read that's how you tell. I've kept Rotkiels in the past but never spawned them so I can't say with certainty
 
I think it's female as well but then I look close and see some specs on her gill plate and a line. I've been looking at adult pairs and some females have a little bit of markings as well
 
Yeah, my supposed wild caught female had some very faint striations lower on her face, but my supposed male non-wild caught had them higher up on "his" cheeks and a moustache as well. You could see a distinct difference side by side - but they never spawned so I don't know if they were a pair or perhaps just different strains / catch locations.

Little Rotkeil! nice job. Wish i could have raised the 2 i had, Looks like you really want a breeding pair of Severums huh.

I agree I feel if this is a male it would already have much more markings so ima stay with female for now

I already have some pairs bro my f1 heros notatus already paired should have fry soon. I ended up with 2m 2f I got lucky. And I'm looking for a male for this little female just wanted to make sure she was a female

I'm gnna try to get a spawn out of my biggest pair and then sell the females bc I want an all male tank with possible rotkeil pair since they are smaller
What are you keeping now ?

Got an empty 55 gallon! Those poor Rainbows spawned and died on me for some reason. I think the temps may of been too high because the water quality was fine.

I think I can fit a 75 gallon tank in this spot i have so i might upgrade but for now empty :(



No more centrals, really just want some South American again.
