Well title says it all, I was initially told male for this guy, who is supposedly f1 Escondido according to the LFS owner. He picked up 6 at auction

Not sure if that last one will help, he is a pain about getting a good full body dorsal flare pic.

In the first pic there looks to be a dark blotch in the dorsal which is generally a female trait.
To me, the profile also looks typically female, but if no females are around, a male won't necessarily always display the steepness .

I think that's a female by shape and fin trailers.
 
So what's this trait then lol I figured it wasn't compared to other pics of Escondido I've seen. Looks like I'm either on the hunt for a male or for a male festae of equal size. I was really hoping that initial male diagnosis was right haha. Oh well thanks for the help cichliguru Duanes
