I am trying to determine the sex of my young bamboo shark so I can give it a name. I have read that males have claspers on their pelvic fins which become more developed when they are older. I do not see anything like that on my shark but I am not possitive if I am looking in the right area or exactly what I am looking for. Can anybody provide me with a better understanding of how I can determine the sex or if it is even possible at such a young age. Thanks.

how big do the bamboo sharks get and im not sure how to tell but i will ask my friend who is almost an expert on fish and do u have any pics of him whould like to see

Claspers on male pups are VERY small when it comes to bamboo and catsharks. I'll see if I can find a pic of just how small. Chances are you won't see them with it swimming in the tank.

Edit: I know it's not a great pic, but I circled the claspers on this male catshark pup.

Thank you zoodiver, next time it is active i'll try to see if there is something. I was looking at the fins themselves so your picture was helpful. To answer your question asianmick, it will grow to approx. 3ft depending whether it is male of female give or take a few inches.
