anyone know how to sex snook? do you have the vent them? or is it like angel fish you have to buy a few and hope for the best?

Best way I can describe it is the males are "sparklier" on their sides where as the females are kinda dull orange color on their sides. I bought four 1-1.5 inch fry last Feb. They are now 5-6" and I ended up with 3 males and a female. Two have paired, and I'm hoping they will soon spawn.
how long did it take for them to be sexable? and what size tank would be required for 4 full grown snook?
yeah the males have nice markings I see a lot of people call "freckles" and get a red orange face and mine has purple fins.

Large! LoL, you'll probably have to wait till they are in the 8" range before you can accuarately tell. They do grow quickly though, so if you have a group together, the males will get larger first. Females are slower growing. If they were the green variant it would be really easy to sex them....

Hopefully you will get a pair....thats what I did with mine....we shall see what happens eh? Ha.
