Sex - Senegal Likely FEMALE?

Need help identifyig sex again of this senegal. About 8 inches and 2.5years old. I think it's a female, but I just got a book (Jurassic Fish) and it seems males are distinguished by a big space/gap between the anal and caudal fins. Now I'm doubting also the other 11inch senegal I have on my tank, which I know for sure is a female as my male jumped out.

Female. Don't know about the gap theory, but the Anal fin is bigger on Males.

Its a female Senegalus bichir because of the narrow anal fin.Males have broad and thick anal fin.

ok, seems it's a female. I may have misunderstood the gap theory on the jurassic book. Thank you for the input.

Can you identify the sex at a young age or do they all look the same when they are small (2-3inches long)??? I just picked up my second Senegal and its albino which makes it even harder to determine since its almost transparent. If anyone could help that would be great, thank u. Here's a pic...
