No, they're very hard to sex until they are at least 4 inch, even then it can be difficult for some jags

Almost impossible to tell at that size, if I had to guess the top would be a female and bottom a male.

BTW The first one is about 2.5-3 inches and the second one is about 3.5 inches. The larger one always seems to be chasing the smaller one around. They are currently in my 220 and I hope to grow them out to monster size in there. I really hope at least one of them is a male.

if i had to guess, i would say the top one is a female based on her vertical stripes, lack of spot on the cheek and the bottom could be a potential male.
