Sexing a FH

How do i sex a fh? I heard something about if black in the dorsal its female? Any other tips?

What size of Flowerhorn are we talking about? If it's about 4 inch you should be able to sex then by the kok (lump) developing on its head, males are the ones with the kok.

Yeah it's only maybe 3 and a half inches. It doesn't really have that much of a kok. The flower kinda goes into the dorsal near the middle of the fish. This is the same fish I had lots of problems with. It wasn't growing much for a while then it sprung back to life and 5 months later the fish is doing well eating like a pig these last few weeks. I guess I'll wait a little longer.
