i bought a 75 gallon tank and it cam with two parrot fish. they are about a year or so old and was wondering how i could sex them. they were kept in kinda crappy conditions for as long as the people had them. if need be i will get pics if you want them. they are kinda small and i think it is due to that conditions of living.

if you mean "blood parrots" and not either true parrot cichlids (Hoplarchus) or true parrot fish (Scaridae) then you might not be able to produce viable fry from them anyway.

im not 100% sure what kind of parrots they are, they came with a 75 gallon tank when i bought it so im not ganna complain.

the fish are blood parrots, one is going almost completely pink and the other one is darkening really dark orange.

even if the blood parrots make a nest and the female lays eggs, its highly unlikely that they will produce fry. the vast majority of hybrids are infertile...

which sucks, because they are the only fish i have that show any sign of breeding, even though they can't

they have been bred, though very uncommon from what I've read/heard, so theoretically there is a chance.

the parrots have found a spot and are defending it, they chase my pacu and oscar away when they get too close. thye even chase the feeders when i fed them.
