Sexing a Red Terror

Is there anyway to sex a Juvenille Red Terror???????

I think its bout 2 maybe 3"s

That is a False Red Terror, not the true one. Amphilophus urophthalmus is the latin name. Also goes by Mayan cichlid and Uro.

That is a female. She'll top out around 8" in 18-24 months from now.

this is a complete guess but i'm leaning toward female
that is how mine looked at that size. and it turned out to be a male
i'll post a pic in a lil while also its a uro

you can tell by the eye spot
it's almost the diameter of the tail
a festae's eye spot is much smaller

Yeah, the eye spot and the "Y" bar just behind the head...its a black bar and its shaped like a "Y" at the top.....best way to distinguish them...still a great cichlid..although the Festae take the cake in my book!

ya Ive only seen pics of Festae's an loved how they look when there big, so when I saw it at Petco of all places I jumped at the chance.

Mayan's can look pretty sweet too but festae's do look alot better.. Nice fish buy the way
