Some people say the male will develop a hump on its head but its not 100% because in some cases the females will develop the hump too. The only sure was to find out is to look at the vents when they breed.

There no easy way to tell the sex of Angelfish short of watching them breed and I have been fooled more than once. The female will have a wider blunter tube the male's will be thinner and pointed. Once a pair developes the male and female will stake out a terratory or breeding site and clean it while aggressivly keeping all others away, it will be pretty easy to tell when this is happining.

Nice replies. Angels are tough. It's not easy to sex schooling fish. Jds are easy, jags are easier, but schooling fish are tough for me cuz I don't always have time to watch their behavior for extended periods. Your have to wait for them to be ready to breed. I have a single angel that I'd like to breed. Guess I gotta wait till he/she is ready.

Yes, it's next to impossible to be 100% sure of sex unless you actually see who lays the eggs and who fertilizes them and even then you can be deceived by a male fertilizing who looks like he is laying down the eggs but they were already there from a previous pass of the female. Every time you think you have nailed down a rule to sex by, some angel will come along and break that rule!
