ok so ive been all over the place online and no one seems to have a direct answer on how to sex blood parrots. They usually say one way then say "but this isnt always the case" which makes it very confusing. In my store i get tons of em and i stare and stare and stare and cant tell one from the other. only diff i see is that some of the bigger ones have this weird thing under their stomach near the tail that looks like a flab of skin hanign down to best decribe it. I also noticed some of my really big ones have very very long pointy very pointy fins. is there anyone here who breeds them or knows how to sex them for sure? please.....anyone . Pics would do wonders :):headbang2

I have not found a fool proof way to sex the BP, even venting is hit or miss.
My male looked like he had an ovipositer (which he obviously didn't) and it is always partially descended.

The only way to be positive is to wait for them to lay or fertilize eggs.

No way of sexing without looking at the sex organs.

Hope this helps a bit. Unfortunatly there is no hard and fast way to tell in very juvinile BP's.

the sure way is to look at the tube...like the pictures above...also is lookin for female characteristics such as cleanin gravel etc. wutever females do....males will flirt fanning the females doin the dance...i hope this helps

ok those last pics helped a great amount. Both mines are displaying those things. lol from best i gather females have more of a fanned out look and males is rounder and pontier in the tube? if so i have to look again to study harder. :P thank u sooo much
