Hi everybody.
I’m trying to sex some of my cichlids. A Vieja Bocourti, 2 Vieja Synspilum, 1 Vieja Maculicauda and 1 Red Devil. Any help is appreciated. I’ll post photos of each fish.
-Bocourti is 25-30cm.
-Others are around the 20cm mark.
Thank you very much

Red devil looks female to me, as does bottom maculicauda, though vent is a bit hard to see with the pattern. I also only see one fish that looks like sysnspilum (melanurum) and two that look like maculicauda. Fish in second set of pictures looks like male maculicauda to me. Bocourti looks male as well. Synspilum i am not sure tbh.
Second opinions would be good, these are quick educated guesses.

Thanks for that!
In theory, second and third fish are meant to be brothers (bought them as juveniles from a guy that said so), but agree with u that the third looks more like a syns than the second. Maybe hybrids?

I would guess hybrids, I’m not seeing a synspilum in the bunch.
The fish fish also has a very long tail, could be an indication of hybrids as well.

I would guess the first three to be males, last two females. with more certainty that the RD is def female.
