Sexing Ch. bleheri

Oh no not this game again lol, It's So hard to say from just one pic !

If i were to take a guess I'd think Female in the center Males on either side , center one seems to have a blunter face, wider/bigger body. The ones on he sides have that arrow shape head and bodys seem more narrow. So hard to tell though the slightest angle can through that off.

Any shots from the side ? or caudal fin shot's ? Unless i have things backward i found my males to be smaller and lighter colored (although that changes rapidly with mood), and the most noticeable thing is that they have a much more distinct red band around the caudal fin.

Oh no not this game again lol.

LOL !!! I only give one pic at the time to make things difficult Devon, you should know that. lol

To be honest I only took this pic of the trio when I separated one of them.
According to "the literature", males grow faster but females get bigger and plumber. Males head is broader and so is females belly.

I kept the one in the center and the one in the right. The one in the left is at Miguel´s place.
Let´s see how this goes...

(and I´ll try to get side and caudal fin shots)

The one on the right looks female, and the two on the left look male. More than one pic would help though haha.

Edit: When I blow up the photo, the one of the right looks like its gills are slightly flared. Very hard to tell.

Took some shots that might help. I also read various things on the internet. Much like most channa there is conflicting information, but i've found the differences are almost identical to those in auranti.

I have 2 very clear pairs will have to separate soon because they are starting to fight each other. When i do i will take shots from above of both pairs for reference. But i took some side shots and caudal fin shots for reference !

Here are a couple of the most dominate male

I love JM's leftovers. I have lodas of Joao's left overs :)

Devon's Bleheri have aboslutely nothing to do with ours Joao. Must be a different location.

Where it not for their tails I would guess Andrao's because of the amount of blue.

I have my tanks full of your leftovers as well, Miguel!

I agree that they are differente, specially in the tail markings (but also in the amoun of blue). The five I received all had tail markings like the ones Devon considers to be females.
