how do you determine if a ch. gachua is male or female? does anyone know?

Breeding is easy with ch. gachua i did it by mistake a few years ago, the fish are mouth brooders bought 2 and then there was loads would like to say i was a top fish keeper but this was in a community tank the only way you can sex them is the females are larger than males. not a lot of help there. A large waterchanges with colder water will trigger spawning. My ones got it on after a large water change.

No sexual dimorphism is listed for the gachua.

It is thought that mature males have a wider head than females and females are also thicker in the belly when in breeding condition. Have a look at www.snakeheads.org and go to species, o to s, sp.assam, breeding sp. assam. There's some gachua stuff in the same article

yeah, i've heard with dwarf sh, the males always have a borader head.
