At what age does a doviis sex become apparent?

the size is around 5".
the age woudl depend on how quick your dovii grows.

Color says a lot at any size.

even at 3'' you can usually get a fair idea of wether its M or F.
check for freckles down the body, the females will have them too but not many above the horizontal band.
some females can get quite nice colouring on the face which can fool you into thinking they are males
like DMAAN said, by 5" you will definitely be able to tell
