How can you sex a dovii? how do you know if its a male or female

Sexing the dovii is difficult on a juvenile. With a mature fish male is more brilliantly coloured and has a sloped forehead females tend to be a bit more bland. also females are a lot smaller.

Males have little black spots in parrellel rows on the lower half of their body. I have personally seen these spots show up on males less than 2". Also females don't have any type of pattern on the lower half of their jaw. It is normally solid yellow.

This is a little off topic, but did anyone else see the monster male dovii at Steinhart Aquarium in SF? That thing had to be two feet long! I'm pretty sure he got cocky and an arapima(sp?) got him because he's not there now, but he used to be my favorite fish in the place.
